Legal information, not legal advice · Every entry verified to its primary source · Independent of any bar association

About

legalaicompliance.help is a free, independent map of state bar ethics opinions, official guidance documents, and court rules on lawyers' use of generative AI. We include the instruments we have verified against their primary sources and explain them in plain English. Deliberate deferrals and limits are documented in the methodology.

Why this exists

The rules on lawyers using AI are scattered across dozens of bar websites, PDFs, and court orders, and the secondary coverage routinely mislabels guidance as "opinions," repeats wrong dates, and in at least one case cites an opinion that does not exist. Paywalled trackers solve this for large firms. Nothing free, structured, and honestly labeled existed for everyone else. Now it does.

What this site will not do

It will not give legal advice, tell your firm what to do in a specific situation, or generate documents for your matter. It will not gate the tracker, the guides, or the policy template behind an email wall. And it will not inflate counts: when a number depends on a definition, you get both the number and the definition.

Who maintains it

MHSB Solutions, Research desk. MHSB Solutions is not a law firm. Everything on this site is legal information keyed to primary sources, not legal advice. No one on the research desk is a licensed attorney. MHSB Solutions is a legal technology and operations consultancy that implements and governs law firm systems; this tracker is the research layer it maintains in public. See the methodology page for sourcing and verification rules.

For licensed attorneys and firm operators. This site is legal information, not legal advice, and no attorney-client relationship is formed by using it. Rules change; verify against the primary sources linked on every page and consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction before acting.
